“My favorite books are Metropolitan Life and Social Studies by Fran Lebowitz. If I could trade places with any literary character, it would be Fran Lebowitz. Although Miss Lebowitz is truly a literary figure, she is absolutely a literary character in all senses of the word. Because she came of age 14 years before I did, she got to experience New York in a way that I only caught the tail end of. It’s the story of my life. She clearly has better stories, although I have some good ones.”
